Here are some assorted photos of the dismantling of the mold. After actually taking the mold apart we needed to clean each section out with wooden tools along with mineral spirits. The mold is now safely in the hands of the foundry and in the casting process. Before we took the mold apart we had design a "code" so the foundry could keep the 75 pieces in order.
"Patience serves as a protection against wrongs as clothes do against cold. For if you put on more clothes as the cold increases, it will have no power to hurt you. So in like manner you must grow in patience when you meet with great wrongs, and they will then be powerless to vex your mind." - Leonardo da Vinci

"Paint coat"
When preparing a section of a sculpture for "sand casting" you have to start with a paint coat of plaster to get all of the detail followed by 4 coats of burlap soaked in plaster. Then...you have to take a positive cast out of that mold section using the same technique and thats what the foundry will use.
Keith really didnt pose for this pic, he was actually applying a coat!
